This kitchen renovation was all about maximizing space, improving flow, and creating the ideal entertainer's kitchen. By reimagining the existing floor plan, we were able to capture valuable square footage from an adjacent dining room—opening up the kitchen for improved functionality and modern living.

The new layout offers generous prep zones, abundant storage, and a central island designed for both cooking and gathering. The extended countertop space now supports seamless meal prep, while the open circulation allows multiple people to move comfortably through the kitchen at once. An additional wine bar hosts a conversation area with a view to the adjacent family room.

Knotty Alder: Natural Warmth with Character

Cabinetry in knotty alder sets the tone for this design—its organic texture and subtle grain variation adds earthy character. The morel wood stain grounds the space and envelopes the area in rich tones while the matte black island cabinets provide a moody contrast to the perimeter.

The cabinets were paired with light quartz countertops showcasing subtle veining and a backsplash tile with soft variations, ensuring the space feels balanced even with the depth of the stained wood cabinetry. Black hardware and fixtures add crisp contrast, enhancing the cabinetry’s tone.

A Balance of Warmth and Brightness

Abundant natural light and a carefully curated lighting plan work together to keep light levels flexible throughout the day. Over the island, a trio of seeded glass pendants creates visual rhythm while keeping sightlines open. Layered task and ambient lighting make the space equally functional for daytime cooking and evening entertaining. The muted hardwood flooring throughout the first floor creates a beautiful light juxtaposition to the deep toned cabinetry.

A Kitchen Designed for Living

The completed renovation is equal parts beautiful and practical—a kitchen that feels welcoming, functions effortlessly, and supports both everyday routines and special gatherings. By blending natural materials with modern design sensibility, we achieved a space that truly reflects the homeowner’s lifestyle.

The 'BEFORES'

The original kitchen felt confined, with minimal prep space and a small island that fell short of the homeowners’ vision for cooking and entertaining. Through a thoughtful redesign, every challenge was addressed—opening the layout, expanding work surfaces, and creating a kitchen that now flows effortlessly for both elevated daily life and memorable gatherings.
